Z1 Battle Royale (Formerly known as H1Z1: King of the Kill) is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by NantG and published by Daybreak. The development on the game began after the original H1Z1 was split into two games: survival mode and battle royale mode. H1Z1 was officially released as free-to-play game in February of 2018.
H1Z1 is a battle royale game in which up to a hundred players are dropped on a map and must fight to survive and remain alive at the end of the match. Players can choose to queue as solo, duo or as a squad (up to 5 players). Each game starts with players dropping from the sky with a parachute. The objective is to find and loot weapons and gear to help you survive and kill other players. There are also vehicles placed around the map which can help players to cross vast distances since the map is very large.
Players can scavange tools and materials around them and craft stuff like bandages, medkits, explosive arrows, makeshift body armor, and more.
As the game progresses, a toxic gas cloud compresses the map and deals damage to players within it. The gas makes the map smaller and smaller every few minutes, dealing increasing damage over time. This forces the players to the safe zone, therefore making them fight each other as the game is getting closer to the end.
H1Z1, like many games these days, has a skin system. You can open crates in-game and find skins inside. Everything from weapons, knives, boots, over backpacks and armor, to helmets and shirt skins can be found inside these crates. In addition, you can also find rare vehicle skins in crates. Some of these skins can be traded on Steam’s market.
In March of 2019, the game introduced its third season, “The Return of the King“, and was actually relaunched as Z1 Battle Royale. As of the update, NantG has taken Daybreak’s place as lead developer. The update has reversed many of Daybreak’s changes, with the new developers aiming to restore “the game that so many of you fell in love with“. So our hopes for old H1Z1 game are higher than ever.
